As the Polish capital prepares to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, residents and visitors alike should be aware of the numerous changes to traffic and transportation in the city. From August 1st, many streets will be closed, and parking restrictions will be in place to facilitate the events and celebrations.
Street Closures and Parking Restrictions
To ensure the safety and smooth execution of the commemorations, several streets will be closed to traffic. These include:
* Ulica Długa (from Kilińskiego to Miodowa) from 10:00 am
* Plac Krasińskich and Ulica Miodowa (from Kapucyńskiej to Świętojerskiej) from 16:00 pm
* Ulica Matejki (from the entrance to the Canadian Embassy to Wiejska)
Additionally, parking restrictions will be implemented on several streets, including:
* Ulica Przyokopowa (on both sides of the street, from the Warsaw Uprising Museum to the entire length of the wall)
* Ulica Długa (from Freta to Miodowa and from Miodowa to Barokowa)
* Ulica Świętojerska (from Wałowa to Bonifraterska)
* Ulica Chopina (from Sieroszewskiego to Aleje Ujazdowskie)
* Ulica Matejki (from Wiejska to Aleje Ujazdowskie)
Alternative Routes and Transportation Options
To minimize disruptions, the city has prepared alternative routes and transportation options for those attending the events. Bus lines 116, 178, 180, 503, 518, and N44 will operate on detour routes, while tram line W will run from 14:00 to 19:00, connecting major points in the city with the commemoration sites.
Five special bus lines (912, 922, 944, 970, and 980) will operate from Cmentarz Wojskowy on Powązkach, connecting the cemetery with various parts of the city.
